A curse of a song. I made it with such intensity and then decided never to play it again. It wasn’t supposed to be on the record for so many months. It was supposed to be abandoned and left to rot.
I’d played it for people and seen them get very emotional even though it had nothing to do with them, so I knew there was something there.
But was it worth it? People eventually convinced me yes. It’s not a good side of me but it is a side of me. I called it tantrum because it is really just a childish fit of a song.
lyrics
[Verse 1]
I wouldn’t ask too much of her
You can’t repeat the past
Well of course you can
It just doesn’t last
And I’ll do big things without her
That’ll make her prouder, I think
It sure was nice to see you
Sure was quite the thrill
Had me thinking it was still
Something real
[Verse 2]
And on my darkest days I hate you
On my best, I don’t think of you at all
How do I know you’re not a monster
Did my mom ever tell you she’s appalled?
Cause you are rude and you’re conniving
When you’re drunk, you know your eyes
They get so small
You’ll have boring jobs and boyfriends
You’ll become another mother
And that’s all
You know the sickest thing about it is
If you just wanted me to be there
I’d be there for it all
